Footage shows teens carrying ducklings through Dublin city as animal welfare groups blast mistreatment

A video has emerged of teenagers carrying ducklings while cycling through Dublin city.

The footage has been slammed by a number of animal welfare groups who have warned people not to buy the ducklings which have been selling on the streets for as low as €5.

The video above shows a group of teenage boys cycling through Dublin city centre while holding the little birds.

One boy is heard calling the bird he is holding "Snoop Duck" while another boy says, "Here, this is going to go famous."

The video is one of many videos circulating online recently showing the mistreatment of the animals.

The new trend has amassed more than 276 million views in what is the latest craze to hit the country.

The trend has been branded extremely dangerous to the young birds and is something that could kill them.

The DSPCA have said they are inundated with calls about children and teenagers buying the ducks from street sellers and have taken in dozens of ducklings just yesterday with more expected today..

They said the ducklings can not survive in cold water without the oils from their mother's feathers and could see them die of hypothermia.
