Footage shows Kerry mountains are COVERED in snow

Here's brilliant footage recorded by Kerry Climbing this morning of heavy snow on the top of Carrauntoohill this morning - as they've warned people not to go hiking up the mountain unaccompanied in these conditions.

Speaking to irishmirror.ie earlier today, a spokeswoman said the group wanted to issue a note of safety to those considering hiking in the expected adverse weather conditions

She said: "Just wanted to issue a note of safety for anyone heading up Carrauntoohil or venturing into MacGillycuddys Reeks to be properly equipped and if inexperienced to hire a qualified Mountain Guide from www.kerryclimbing.ie ."

This comes as Met Eireann have issued a Status Yellow snow-ice warning for five counties as bitterly cold conditions are set to continue.

The alert is in place for Wicklow, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, starting at 10pm on Tuesday night and will remain in place until 11am on Wednesday morning.

Weather experts are expecting "wintry showers" to lead to possible snow accumulations and icy conditions.

Sub-zero conditions are expected with temperatures set to hit lows of -1C overnight.

And the bitterly cold weather will continue on Wednesday, with further freezing temperatures overnight.
