Harvey Borrington, who tragically died at the hands of his stepmum, is filmed here in family footage smiling and giggling as he sips on a drink. Wearing shorts and a T-shirt and sat in a car seat, Harvey is the picture of health, his powder-blue eyes twinkling as he breaks into laughter as he is driven home from Costa coffee with his "Babyccino" clasped in his hands.
Grinning from ear-to-ear in the car, Harvey had been for the milky drink and a cake with his birth mum, Katie Holroyd, and they were heading home when this film was taken. Miss Holroyd released the footage to Nottinghamshire Live after she saw little Harvey's killer - stepmum Leila Borrington jailed for 15 years for the three-year-old's manslaughter - after a trial.
Miss Holroyd and her family wiped away tears in court as Borrington, 23, of Main Road, Jacksdale, was sentenced. The incident that led to Harvey’s death took place just before 2pm on Saturday, August 6, 2021, when his dad Jonathan and another child went out to the cinema, leaving Borrington and Harvey at home. During the trial, video footage of Harvey showed him playing with his toys and placing items into the dishwasher.

Within less than 30 minutes, further video footage showed Harvey unconscious on the living room floor. Borrington assaulted Harvey, causing the very serious head injuries, that ultimately led to his death. The overall evidence, particularly the expert evidence, demonstrated he was subjected to a sustained violent assault.
Harvey sustained fatal head injuries, including a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain, Nottingham Crown Court heard. Miss Holroyd did not wish to comment further on the sentencing or the case, after she gave an emotionally-charged victim impact statement in court which you can read here.
