Video footage captured the moment a massive fire ripped through a cafe and shop in New Ferry last night.
Six fire engines were sent to the scene and residents were told to stay indoors as firefighters spent several hours tackling the blaze which tore through Riverside cafe based at the rear of the Premier convenience store in Clipper View.
Footage shows smoke billowing from the building and the blaze could be seen across New Ferry and beyond with some residents initially assuming it was fireworks due to the noise.

The fire service took more than 20 calls about the fire.
At this stage the cause of the blaze, which broke out around midnight, is unknown.
Thankfully cafe officials confirmed nobody was injured in the fire, which has sparked an outpouring of support.

At the height of the incident, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said last night: "Six fire engines are in attendance as well as the combined platform ladder appliance.
"The incident involves a two storey building with the roof fully involved in fire."
The statement added: "Nearby residents and businesses should keep windows and doors closed. Anyone with existing medical conditions should keep medicines nearby and call NHS 111 if ill effects occur.
"Please avoid the area."
At 2.11am the fire service confirmed the fire was under control but had caused "severe damage".
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said on its website: "The fire involves a cafe at the rear of a convenience store. Severe damage has been caused as a result of the fire."
Just before 3am Riverside Convenience Store and Café said in a Facebook post: "Just to let you know no one is hurt at the cafe and shop thanks for all your messages."
The fire prompted a show of support on social media.
One woman wrote: "Absolutely devastating."
And another resident said: "Gutted best food around and roast dinners!"
One man added: "I heard loads of bangs thought it was fireworks."
Praising his team, Incident Commander, Station Manager Alun Evans, said: "Firefighters worked quickly and effectively to bring this well developed fire under control. They have been able to successfully contain it to the affected building, protect neighbouring properties from any fire spread and reduce the impact of smoke on the surrounding area. Crews are now working to tackle any smaller pockets of fire that remain."
