Footage shows emergency services at the scene of 'ongoing incident' in Blyth

A large-scale emergency response team descended on Blyth on Saturday.

Northumbria Police and teams of paramedics from North East Ambulance service could be seen on Twentieth Avenue dealing with an incident.

It is understood emergency teams were called shortly before midday.

Footage from the scene shows a significant police presence on the street with parked cars and vans, after the ambulances had left the scene.

A police officer was also guarding the door to one of the homes.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said they were called to a "medical incident at a private address" on Saturday morning and could not comment further.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said the incident was ongoing, though the exact nature remains unknown.

A full statement is expected to follow.

Some police remain at the scene though other emergency vehicles have since left the area.
