Footage shows cruel thug stealing footballers' bags while they play match at Tolka Rovers' Griffith Avenue home

This is the disgusting moment a cruel thief stole the belongings of a number of players at a north Dublin football club while they were playing a match.

The disgraceful theft took place at Frank Cooke Park on Griffith Avenue, home of Tolka Rovers on Tuesday evening at around 9pm.

The club's Senior Saturday side were taking on Dublin Bus in a Leinster Senior League Major 1 Division fixture at the time.

It is not yet known whether the property of home or away players were taken by the opportunistic robber.

Footage shows a car pull up outside the clubhouse before a man wearing a baseball cap and face mask jumps out of the back and grab a bag that had been left there.

The thug puts the bag in the back seat before the car drives further along until.

The masked raider then quickly grabs three more bags and throws them into the car before it drives away.

Tolka defeated Dublin Bus two nil in the game but players then found their bags, which included valuable items such as phones and clothing, had been stolen.

The frustrated footballers only returned to playing earlier this month after an enforced period away from the game they love due to the coronavirus outbreak.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live they are investigating the incident.

She said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of theft which occurred on Griffith Avenue, Dublin on the 28 July 2020 at approximately 9:00pm. No arrests have been made."

Dublin Live has contacted Tolka Rovers for comment.
