Crews from Cork City Fire Brigade rushed to the scene of a major burst main pipe on Cathedral Road which is causing traffic and accessibility issues in the area.
Cathedral Road and Gerald Griffin Street are both closed to vehicles and pedestrians while crews attend the scene and the public are being asked to avoid the area.
Personnel from Irish Water and Cork City Council are currently en route to the incident to assess the scene, CorkBeo reports.
Traffic lights near Gerald Griffin pub are also reportedly out of action and the water is flowing down Gerald Griffin Street and on to Watercourse Road.
Cork City Fire Brigade have confirmed that the water main has now been shut off and the water flow has been isolated however traffic remains heavy in the area.
There are traffic delays being reported around the area including Blackpool Village and Shandon Street as the incident took place at the main junction through the north side of the city.
