Footage shows aftermath as Nissan Micra smashes into building in Tuam, Galway

Footage shows the destruction caused to a retail shop in Galway after a small car smashed into the shop front on Tuesday afternoon.

A witness filmed the Nissan Micra, displaying a learner plate on the back window, lodged into the shopfront of Di Moda Shoes on Vicar Street in Tuam, Co Galway, showing the destruction caused by the single vehicle crash.

The car blocked the footpath and part of the street outside causing slight delays to traffic on the narrow road.

Gardai said there were no injuries reported in the incident.

A spokesperson told the Irish Daily Mirror: "Gardaí attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred in Tuam, Co. Galway this afternoon, Tuesday 2nd March 2021 at approximately 1.30pm.

"A car collided with a shop front on Vicar Street. No injuries were reported.

"Investigation is ongoing."
