Footage of man accused of faking ice fall at work for insurance claim

A US contractor is accused of throwing ice on the floor where he worked and pretending to fall on it before making a bogus insurance claim.

Alexander Goldinsky, 57, has been charged with one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree.

This follows accusations he fraudulently filed an insurance claim in a fake slip and fall while working at a company in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Footage shows a man, alleged to be Godinsky, take ice from a drinks dispenser and put it in a plastic cup.

Footage of the alleged incident has been released (Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office)

This is then tossed on the floor before the person walks to it and seems to deliberately keel over before laying on the ground.

An investigation by Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office stated: “Goldinsky purposely threw the ice on the floor in the cafeteria at his workplace, placed himself on the ground, and waited until he was discovered.”

Documents from this enquiry state that between September 1 and November 1 of last year Goldinsky filed a false insurance claim for the ambulance service and treatment he received at a hospital for injuries he claimed he sustained at a business.

He was arrested on January 15, 2019, following the investigation by Detective Sean Sullivan.

Goldinsky, of Randolph, New Jersey, was released on a summons and his initial court appearance is scheduled for February 7, 2019 at New Brunswick Superior Court.

A statement from the Prosecutor’s office added: “As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Goldinsky are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
