Footage of Jurgen Klopp singing new song after Liverpool win Champions League goes viral

It was a symbolic moment.

A year ago Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp stood in his Formby home just after 6am, parking the heartache of the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev and singing defiantly with trusted assistant manager Peter Krawietz and Campino, the lead singer of German punk rock band Die Toten Hosen, as well as Johannes B Kerner, a well-known TV personality in Klopp's homeland.

“We saw the European Cup,” they chanted.

“Madrid had all the ****ing luck.

“We swear we'll keep on being cool

“We'll bring it back to Liverpool!”

Some 371 days on Klopp duly delivered the Reds' sixth European Cup triumph courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the Estadio Metropolitano.

Goals from Mohamed Salah from the penalty spot, and Divock Origi late on, secured another famous triumph.

In the celebrations in the team hotel in Madrid which extended right through until breakfast on Sunday, Klopp and his friends were reunited for another performance.

Campino had reworded the lyrics from 12 months earlier to mark the occasion.

“We’re sending greetings from Madrid,” they roared.

“Tonight we made it number six.

“We brought it back to Liverpool 'cos we promised we would do.”

Klopp had been true to his word.
