Caleb Plant was confident enough in his fight with Canelo Alvarez to chat with his rival - two rounds before he was knocked out.
The Mexican cemented his name in history with a penultimate period stoppage of Plant to become the first undisputed champion at 168lbs.
His rapid journey through the division included scalps such as British pair Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders along the way, before ending with all four belts this weekend in Las Vegas.
And footage shows a mid-fight exchange where he and Plant are conversing about the quality of their shots during the ninth stanza.
Plant is shown to be on the back foot absorbing some power punches from the Mexican champion while shouting "pretty good" and "pretty good for 21-0 yeah?".
The American's confidence radiated throughout the early phases of the fight frustrating the 31-year-old to limited angles as he desperately marched forward in search of a breakthrough.
During the ninth round exchange Plant also shouted "I do respect your skills" which showed early stages of a mutual ending of their pre-fight quarrel.
But the Mexican was not held back for long as he picked his opening in the 11th session with a whipping combination sending his opponent to the canvas for the first time in his professional career.
And his clinical prowess came to fruition when he seized his stoppage opportunity with a second knockdown handing the referee no option but to stop the fight.
Alvarez was delighted with his performance and later admitted he had found a new respect for his challenger.
"It hasn't been easy to get to this point," he said. "This is for everyone, especially for Mexico.
"It means so much for the history of Mexico to be the undisputed champion. It makes me very happy and motivated to be one of six undisputed champions of the world.
"I have respect for Caleb Plant, he was a good fighter. We were men at the end, he wanted to keep fighting but I told him there was no shame. We had a great fight."

Alvarez will now take a break but is targeting a return to the ring in May next year.
And he could face a switch to light-heavyweight where he conquered Sergey Kovalev to become WBO world champion in 2019.
Russian champions Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev could be shortlisted as potential challenges in that division while a mandatory defence against David Benavidez has also been touted if he remains at his current 168lb weight class.
Plant, meanwhile, was taken to hospital in the aftermath of the brutal defeat for doctors observation.
