Footage captures alleged fire attack on Port Lincoln Police Station

Police said the Port Lincoln Police Station was not damaged by the fire.

A man who allegedly poured petrol outside the Port Lincoln Police Station and set it alight has been arrested and charged.

Police said a man poured petrol onto the footpath near the front doors of the station on Liverpool Street and ignited it about 8:50pm on Thursday.

Footage filmed by local Jason Toshach showed several cars driving past the fire without stopping.

Police said fire crews extinguished the blaze before the station itself could catch alight.

A 19-year-old man from Port Lincoln was arrested at the scene.

Police said the fire did not cause any damage to the station, which was closed at the time.

The man was charged with property damage and refused bail.

He is expected to appear in Port Lincoln Magistrates Court today.
