Footage as teen and man 'covered in blood' after car crash turns into serious gang assault in horrific incident in Celbridge, Kildare

This is the footage taken seconds before a teenager and a man in his 30s were left "covered in blood" after a gang attack in Kildare on Friday evening.

The pair were rushed to hospital after the horrific assault by a "number of people" that took place following a car crash in Kildare, Gardai have revealed to Dublin Live.

The serious attack happened on the Maynooth Road in Celbridge at around 6:50pm.

The two men were assaulted after an altercation which took place after one car smashed into the other in the middle of the busy Bank Holiday traffic.

The video obtained by Dublin Live shows a man appearing to be smashing one of the crashed vehicles involved with some sort of weapon while another person watches on at the other side of the vehicle.

A Garda investigation has been launched but the attackers are still at large as no arrests have been made yet.

The injured pair were taken to St. James's Hospital after the gruesome assault but are said to be recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

An eye-witness told Dublin Live: "It was quite frightening, people started smashing the car up and in the aftermath, two lads were just left covered in blood."

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "We are investigating an assault on two men that occurred at approximately 6:50pm on Friday, 31st July, on the Maynooth Road, County Kildare.

"A man in his 30s and a man in his late teens were taken to St. James's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted by a number of people."

He added: "No arrests have been made to date and investigations are ongoing.
