The Liverpool Christmas market is back and this year’s food and drink offering is bigger than ever.
The market stretches along St George’s plateau with stalls and huts serving a huge range of festive favourites and winter warmers.
At either end there are bars where you can enjoy a mulled wine, Bailey’s hot chocolate, beer or soft drink.
There’s also a big range of seating this year, including sheltered huts, and cosy teepee where you can listen to festive music and take your time to enjoy yourself whatever the weather.
We visited this week to try some of the food and we think this year’s market could actually be the best yet . If you’re planning a visit and want to know what food you will find, here’s what to expect:
Bratwurst and German classics
For £5 you can get a Bratwurst original German sausage, or variations including smoked sausage with a hint of spice and a German burger for the same price.
There’s also pretzels for £3 and currywurst, served in a tray with a roll for £5.

Yorkshire Pudding Wraps
Christmas markets wouldn’t be complete without a Yorkshire pudding wrap stall. This year you can have your wrap stuffed with turkey, beef or pork, then loaded with stuffing, gravy and a choice of vegetables. You can even add apple, cranberry or mint sauce.

Chinese favourites
There are a number of stalls serving Asian dishes if that’s what you fancy. You can tuck into crispy chicken for £5, mixed meat noodles for £7, pork dumplings for £3.50 and a roast duck wrap for £6.
There's also a hut dedicated to siu mai, with 10 pieces of salt and pepper pork siu mai at £7.

Scouse pies
The Back Kitchen, run by Liverpool Homeless Football Club has brought HomeBaked’s Scouse Pies to the Christmas market. So if you fancy a traditional pie your choice will be a charitable one.
These are priced at £4.50 with profits supporting the homeless in our city.
Halloumi fries
These have become hugely popular in the last couple of years and the market has a range to choose from, including ‘classic’ halloumi fries served with yoghurt, mint and cucumber and a sweet chilli version. You can also get them served with hoisin sauce, garlic mayo or bacon bits and maple syrup.
Belgian fries
Every flavour of fries you can imagine with 20 sauces to choose from, including ‘cocktail’, which contains whisky, and curry ketchup.
A tray of Belgian Fries is £4, or you can have them loaded with extras including BBQ pulled pork, or salt n pepper chicken, for £7.
Polish winter warmers
For £5 tuck into a Kielbasa hot dog, served with onions, cheese and crispy onions. Or try the Bigos hunter stew which is a hearty mix of sausages, pork, mushrooms, pickled cabbage, tomatoes and herbs for £5.
Sweet treats
The market is brimming with sugary treats this year including Nutella crepes and Pick n Mix. For £4 there’s also hot waffles, which can be served with Nutella, white chocolate and caramel sauce, or milk/white chocolate chip cookie dough with a choice of Nutella, white chocolate and caramel.
At another stall you will find ‘loaded donuts’, which include two fresh donuts, with warm chocolate sauce and sprinkles/mini marshmallows for £3.50.
If you don’t want to go all out, there’s giant cookies on sale for £2 a pop, plus a selection of pastries and festive cakes for around £2.50 each. You can also find stalls selling bags of fudge to take home.
