Food safety alert issued for Lidl's Deluxe Stuffed Mushrooms over incorrect allergen labelling

The Food Safety Authority have issued an alert for a Lidl product due to the incorrect labelling of an allergen.

The watchdog is alerting consumers to the presence of wheat in Lidl's Deluxe Stuffed Mushrooms with Spanish Chorizo and Oak Smoked Cheddar Cheese.

The affected batches are in a 200g pack size with the use-by dates: 05.11.2019 (expired), 07.11.2019 and 09.11.2019.

Wheat flour is listed as an ingredient but is not emphasised in bold writing as an allergen.

Food safety bosses say this may pose a risk to those who are allergic to or intolerant of wheat (gluten).

A notice said: "Wheat is an ingredient of Deluxe Stuffed Mushrooms with Spanish Chorizo and Oak Smoked Cheddar Cheese, which is sold by Lidl.

"Wheat is not emphasised on the ingredients list of the above batches.

"The implicated batches may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of wheat (gluten).

"Please note that milk is also an ingredient of this product, but it is correctly emphasised on the label."
