It’s safe to say the village of The Moy in Co Tyrone certainly punches above its weight in terms of its food and drink scene.
New coffee shops have added to a couple of very good takeaway options, while there’s a few brilliant pubs thrown in, including old favourite Tomney’s.
While passing through the area this week I stopped in for a bite at a place I had heard good things about - The Moy Larder.
In the main square of the village, this cosy cafe was full of locals chatting over a casual coffee or late lunch.
I managed to grab the only table left on a busy Friday afternoon and was already regretting not coming earlier, the breakfast menu looked amazing and there were loads of options.
The lunch menu was equally stacked however, as was the pulled pork sandwich I ended up ordering.
Sweet, salty and flavourful with just the right amount of sauce, the pulled pork could not be faulted - there are plenty of spots that do a poor version of this barbecue classic but the Larder was not one of them.
A healthy portion of chunky chips to the side, as well as a simple side salad and coleslaw meant there wasn’t much room on the plate, nor in my belly afterwards either.
And the best part about it all was that the whole thing came to just £7.50 - a serious meal for a really reasonable price.
If I had room for anything sweet afterwards, they had a great little selection of scones and pastries ready which were proving popular.
For myself however, I just don’t know where I would have put it, so I retreated very satisfied with my day’s eating!
