Food Packaging Association backs Don't Trash Our Future anti-litter campaign

The Food Packaging Association (FPA) has publicly shown its support for one of the UK's most ambitious anti-litter campaigns.

Don't Trash Our Future wants to shed the country of its litter-plagued reputation by calling for tougher laws on littering fines.

We've all seen rubbish strewn on the streets, on beaches and in parks - and now is the time to do something about it.

It also wants to make it compulsory for local authorities to enforce the law on littering.

The FPA showed its support for Don't Trash Our Future via Twitter.

Martin Kersh, Executive Director of the FPA said: "We are delighted to support Clean Up Britain’s latest campaign and have a long history of supporting litter initiatives. We view CLUB as the UK’s leading litter organisation.

"They recognise litter is due to human behaviour. No item litters itself. The Defra litter strategy for England is clearly not working and it is about time governments stopped pussyfooting about and make fines count by both increasing fixed penalty notices to £1,000 and by ensuring they are enforced."

The campaign has been created by newspaper publisher Reach Plc, alongside information platform InYourArea.co.uk and Clean Up Britain.

Sign the petition here or below. The aim is to reach 100,000 signatures so we can lobby the Government to change the legislation.
