Food Network show says nation's best burger is in Chicago

June 28--This might not sit well with Kuma's Corner fans.

Food Network's new series, "Top 5 Restaurants," ranked the five best burgers in the country during a recent episode and named Au Cheval's double cheeseburger -- which features three thin beef patties, two thick strips of maple-glazed bacon and house-made dijonaise -- No. 1 on the list. Au Cheval was joined in the top five by Brindle Room in New York, Pie 'n Burger in Pasadena, Calif., Sid's Diner in El Reno, Okla. and Mission Bowling Club in San Francisco.

Au Cheval's cheeseburger came in at No. 2 on Daily Meal's "101 Best Burgers in America 2015" list earlier this month.

Some might argue Au Cheval doesn't even have the best burger in Chicago. Kuma's Corner's Kuma burger has topped a few lists itself, including Daily Meal's rankings in 2014 (the Kuma burger fell to No. 5 in 2015). Zagat named Lockdown Bar Grill's The Lockdown Warden the best burger in Chicago last year.

My favorite burger? It's a three-way tie between Au Cheval, Kuma's Corner and Hot Chocolate. Too close to call.

"Top 5 Restaurants" -- hosted by Geoffrey Zakarian and Sunny Anderson -- will tackle the best pizza in the country during Monday's episode.
