Food giant Greencore to create 70 new jobs at Tamworth warehouse

Convenience food manufacturer Greencore has launched a recruitment drive for 70 new staff.

The company - which supplies all of the major supermarkets in the UK - already employs 300 people at its distribution centre on the Core 42 Business Park in Dordon, Tamworth.

Now it is looking for dozens of new warehouse workers in preparation for an increase in demand as lockdown eases.

Eamonn Boland, depot manager at Greencore Tamworth said: "We distribute chilled and frozen food products for convenience stores, travel retailers and the foodservice sector, so as the country moves out of lockdown we are seeing an increase in demand for our products, which is of course a good thing.

"This gives us a great opportunity to create up to 70 new warehouse roles at the site and we are looking forward to welcoming potential candidates to our recruitment day from 9am on May 22."

Greencore manufactures convenience food - such as sandwiches, salads, sushi and ready meals - for convenience and travel retail outlets, discounters and coffee shops.

It also supplies soups and sauces, quiche and frozen Yorkshire puddings to retailers across the UK.

It has 16 manufacturing sites and 18 distribution centres in the UK, employing approximately 12,200 people.

In 2020, the Dublin-headquartered business generated revenue of £1.2 billion.
