Scotty Brand is to double its supply of strawberries and raspberries this year after securing a UK-wide contract with Asda.
The soft fruit grown and packed by Bruce Farms in Perthshire will find its way to supermarkets within 24 hours of being picked.
Michael Jarvis, head of marketing at Scotty Brand, said: “Strawberries are always an exciting addition to our portfolio during the summer months and this year we are delighted that Scotty Brand strawberries will be available throughout the UK.
"Scottish berries are popular both north and south of the border, and for the first-time customers across the UK will get the chance to try and enjoy our strawberries.”
English strawberries are already in the shops but the later ripening – and infinitely superior - Scottish fruit arrives in time for the boom in demand that comes with events such as Wimbledon.
Scotty Brand strawberries will be available in 300g punnets at Asda from Sunday and raspberries will follow at the end of this month.
