Food expert's 'unique' carrot hack for roast dinner will 'elevate' your meal in seconds

There's nothing better than sitting down on a Sunday and tucking into a delicious roast dinner - with all the trimmings if you can have them.

But if this is something you do as a weekly tradition, then you might be in need of a way to spruce up your Sunday lunch and make it taste a little different.

If this is the case then you're in luck, as a food expert has been sharing his top tips for taking roasts to the next level - from pimping up your potatoes to making the meat taste better with different sauces.

And the pro's next tip is all to do with elevating your veg and making your carrots taste 'unique'.

Speaking to The Mirror, Phil Bianchi from The Gift Of Oil explained that you don't need to add honey to the humble carrot to make it sweet and tasty.

Instead, he recommends adding a dash of orange juice before roasting your carrots.

Yes, really.

He said: "A common addition to the humble carrot is to add some honey. This sweet taste really helps to elevate your dish, especially if you're not a huge fan of vegetables.

"If you're a fan of the combo, why not try adding some orange juice instead?

"A dash of juice and a fresh herb is an ideal choice and one that you might use a lot in the future to bring out a unique sensation in the carrot."

The expert also shared some hacks for other vegetables as well, including parsnips, which he claims pair really well with Parmesan.

He added: "When cheese is added to a roast dinner, the classic choice is to make a creamy cauliflower cheese.

"But actually, a much better combination is to add some parmesan cheese to your parsnips.

"Try to make your parsnips nice and crispy and add the cheese whilst they are still in the oven so that it melts over. You only need a small amount but a little goes a long way! "
