Food closures Ireland: Popular Dublin restaurant Camden Rotisserie's reasons for October order by Safety Authority finally revealed after court appeal

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has published the reasons why Dublin restaurant Camden Rotisserie was forced to close in October following a court appeal against the order.

The eatery, with an address at 37 Lower Camden Street, was closed on October 1 and reopened just three days later on October 4.

The FSAI normally release the reasons behind the closure orders at the start of the following month but it has taken over four months for Camden Rotisserie's to be revealed after their appeal to the District Court has now been withdrawn.

The officer who carried out the inspection on the restaurant found that there was "rodent activity in the rear yard of the food premises."

They added that "rodent burrow holes were found to the rear and under foundations of the building."

Rodent bait was evident at the rear outdoor area of the food premises and was gnawed and eaten by rodents.

The restaurant also had an infestation of crawling woodlice that was present in a food preparation room.

The inspector also noted in the findings that "food was not prepared in an appropriate way to prevent harmful deterioration and contamination.

The report concluded: "The above conditions lead to a serious risk of food being contaminated with pathogenic bacteria likely to render the food unfit for human consumption, injurious to health or contaminated in such a way that it would be unreasonable to expect it to be consumed in that state."

The full report on the closure can be found on the Food Safety Authority's website.
