Food and drink deals set to continue for frontline workers after Eat Out to Help Out scheme ends

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme comes to a close on August 31 having offered £10 off meals during August at thousands of eateries across the UK.

The UK Government incentive to encourage the nation to support the hospitality sector has been a huge hit with more than 64 million Brits taking advantage of the Monday to Wednesday discounted food offer.

And some restaurants and pubs across Scotland are keeping the initiative going throughout September - even though they can't claim back the discounted difference.

NHS workers, emergency services and social care workers can also access exclusive deals and discounts across thousands of UK food and drink venues - even after the Eat Out to Help Out scheme has ended.

Food and drink brands are offering these long-term discounts exclusively to members of Blue Light Card, the UK’s biggest discount service for frontline workers.

The discounts, which are up to 50 per cent off the bill, are applicable on varying days and include:

  • Pizza Hut Delivery - 50% off online orders

  • Toby Carvery - 20% off food (Monday - Saturday)

  • Greene King - 20% off food

  • ASK Italian -  25% off food for up to 8 diners (Sunday - Thursday)

  • Starbucks - 10% off the whole bill

  • Whitbread Inns - 33% off food

  • YO! Sushi - 25% off food when you dine in (Sunday - Friday)

As well as these listed brands, over 15,000 retailers have signed up to Blue Light Card, extending beyond food and drink to include clothing, footwear, electronics and more.

Tom Dalby, CEO of Blue Light Card, said: "Before and during lockdown, we’ve been sharing lots of exclusive online discounts through our website and app.

"But now our high streets are reopening, it is fantastic to be able to provide a small ‘thank you’ to the NHS, emergency services and social care workers for their dedication and hard work, through long-standing partnerships with some of our favourite food and drink venues across the country.”

With over 2 million members now signed up to Blue Light Card, people working in the NHS, for emergency services or as social care workers can access all discounts through the website, app and card.

Membership to Blue Light Card costs £4.99 and is valid for two years, for access to all deals and discounts can be done online here.

All discounts correct at the time of publishing and have been in place prior to August 2020. Refer to the Blue Light Card website for all up-to-date discounts.
