The SummerTyne party has started, with the sun turning out to welcome the first day of the Americana event.
The Sage Gateshead is playing host once again to some of the biggest names in American roots music as well as up and coming talents offering a fresh twist on the sound.
While its main Sage One hall will welcome the main acts and a range of performers will be playing in its concourse over SummerTyne's three-day (and night) run, the outdoor space will be full to bursting with music too.
Crowds are set to gather outside this weekend to bask in the entertainment - and hopefully the sun - being served up on the pop-up outside stage in Performance Square and they are in for a chilled-out weekend of music.

And there will be plenty food and drink on offer too for those wanting to make the most of the occasion.
While the top-notch music programme plays out between Friday and Sunday, here's what else will be on the menu to whet the appetite over the Americana weekend.
Americana Diner
A bespoke Americana Diner will be set up on the Sage concourse offering a Southern-inspired menu as well as some cracking views of the Tyne.
Rington’s coffee
The local favourite will be serving beverages in Performance Square.
Fentimans' Botanical Bar
The Hexham-based soft drink award-winners will be pouring gins and mixing up cocktails.
Heineken and Hadrian Border bars
These will be providing a range of premium lagers and local ales.
Meat:Stack
Expect 'real American cheeseburgers' from the popular Grainger Market business, with fresh bread and cheese.
Spud Gun Loaded Fries
The seasoned street food team will be serving up exactly what it says on the tin.

Acropolis Street Food
The Newcastle restaurant is bringing its menu of honest Greek food 'made with love'.
Gingerino's Kitchen
Handmade thin and crispy stone-baked pizzas will be whetting appetites.
Alongside the food and drink pop-ups, there will be retail stalls selling the following:
Cigar Box Man
Unique North East instruments creating cigar-box sounds.

Hand-made 'eco-real' resin jewellery featuring flowers from around the world.
The Trading Post
