Fontaines DC and For Those I Love nominated for the prestigious Ivor Novello awards

Two of the leading musical acts in Dublin have been nominated for the prestigious Ivor Novello awards.

Both Fontaines D.C. and For Those I Love have been put forward for the long-running gongs.

Fontaines D.C has been nominated for the best album award for their second album, A Hero's Death, while For Those I Love has been nominated for best contemporary song with Top Scheme.

Dubliners Fontaines D.C. will be battling it out for the best album award with Lianna Le Havis, Send Them To Coventry, Song For Our Daughter, and What Kinda Music.

For Those I Love, is the creation of Dublin singer-songwriter, David Balfe, who has won universal praise for his debut album.

Balfe's Top Scheme will be going up against Rachel Chinouriri's Give Me A Reason, Energy from Felix Joseph, Daisy from Ashinko and Slinger, and Dave and Fraser T Smith's Children of the Internet.

The Ivor Awards celebrate peer recognition with over 70% of nominees up for an award for the first time.

The winners will be announced next month on September 21.
