Follow live: Miles Bridges and Charlotte open NBA Summer League play

Miles Bridges had an up-and-down rookie season for the Charlotte Hornets. The 2018 lottery pick is suiting up with Charlotte’s Summer League team. It’s a big year for Bridges and Charlotte is entering a rebuild after losing Kemba Walker in free agency. Charlotte will use summer league to put Bridges in different spots. They need to see what they have in him and how he fits into the rebuild.

Expect Bridges, who spent a lot of time on the wing last season, to see more time at power forward and with the ball in his hands.

This post will update will tweets from our Spartans Wire account and other notable tweets.

It was a quiet first shift for Bridges as Dwayne Bacon carried the load for Charlotte. He’s another guy going into an important year. We’ll see how Miles is used the next time he’s on the floor.

Miles ran the offense after checking back in. It was a really nice finish through traffic. Miles has already improved off the bounce since leaving college.

A similar finish to his first bucket. A couple possessions later Miles passed up a wide open three and traveled as he started to drive.

Poole fumbled the ball out of bounds and bounced off Miles like he was a brick wall. It was 100% incidental contact, but I’d bet Miles wasn’t mad about it.

I’d bet Miles is going to have more freedom on offense for Charlotte this year. He’s just destroying these summer league dudes.

Full agree. Miles has always been a bit of a deferrer. He showed that at MSU his freshman year when he was far and away the best player on the team. He’ll need to shake some of that to reach his potential on offense.

Miles has a block and a steal and is just crazy disruptive on defense. By the end of last season he was guarding the number one options on other teams.

Miles can really deliver highlight plays.

He looked really strong off the dribble and made some really nice passes. The three will come for him in time and when it does, he can be a really impactful player on offense. The defense was rounding into form by the end of last season and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t regarded as a great defender by the end of next season.
