Folk singer Matt McGinn to be remembered in Linlithgow

Scotland’s King of Folk will be remembered with a night of song and music in West Lothian.

The folk singer, Matt McGinn, was a household name in the 1960s and 70s and a tribute to his memory will take place at Linlithgow Academy Theatre on Saturday March 7.

In recent years the festival has played a pivotal role in reviving Matt McGinn’s work and presenting it to new audiences.

The performance 43 years after his untimely death in 1977 will be a major fundraiser for the Linlithgow Folk Festival and all entertainers will give their services free of charge as a gesture of support.

The proceeds are used to organise an outdoor music initiative at the festival called The Nora Devine Stage where budding artistes are given the opportunity to perform.

Tickets, priced £12 each, are now available from the Linlithgow Folk Fest website and Far From the Madding Crowd, 20 High Street, Linlithgow.
