Thick fog descended over London and the south-east of the UK this morning, causing delays and cancellations at Heathrow and London City airports.

The Met Office warned the public of travel disruption, with visibility expected to drop to lower than 50 metres in places. At London City airport nearly every early-morning service was either delayed or cancelled.

Commuters also reported delays to their journeys as the Met Office warned the public of travel disruption. For those not directly affected, the fog created a mystifying eerie Victorian feel to the start of the day.
