Foetus & dead newborn found in field & drain in Bhopal

BHOPAL: A foetus and the body of a newborn premature baby have been found dumped in Katara Hills locality and in a drain in front of Sultania Hospital in Bhopal. Police are trying to track down the parents and find out how the foetus was surgically removed.

ASI Lalbahadur Singh said that a local resident, Dhaman Singh Nayak, was out on a morning walk on Tuesday when he saw what he thought was a dead animal in a puddle in an agricultural field behind Goya Colony in Rapadia locality of Katara Hills. When he went close, he realized to his horror that it was a human foetus, with the umbilical cord still attached.

Hosp tag on baby may help identify parents

Doctors later said it was a four-to-five-month-old male foetus. Katara Hills police sent it for autopsy. SHO Katara Hills BS Prajapati said there are no hospitals in the vicinity. "It seems the foetus was extracted by somebody at home with the help of a doctor or a quack," he said. The illegal surgery was probably conducted somewhere far-off and the foetus brought here to be disposed of, police say.

Prior to this, the body of a premature newborn was found in a drain in front of Sultania hospital in Talaiya locality.

Police said there was a hospital tag attached to the baby, which will help them identify the parents. It seems a woman gave birth to a premature stillborn and disposed of it in the drain.
