Foden out, Jesus in - Man City predicted XI vs Wolves in the Premier League

Phil Foden might have to wait for his first Premier League start of the season as Manchester City take on Wolves this weekend.

Foden has played just 11 minutes in the league this season, but put himself back into Pep Guardiola's thoughts when he scored City's second against Dinamo Zagreb this week moments after coming off the bench.

With Gareth Southgate hinting that Foden needed to be playing more to get a call-up to the England squad this week, the 19-year-old will be hoping for more minutes in the coming months - starting against Wolves.

But with Kevin de Bruyne missing out again, Guardiola is likely to name a more experienced midfield trio in order to combat Wolves' established group of Joao Moutinho, Leander Dendoncker and Ruben Neves.

That means Rodri is likely to get the nod again at the base of midfield, with David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan ahead of him. Foden could be used off the bench in the second half if needed - especially with the same trio lining up against Zagreb in midweek.

In defence, Kyle Walker and Aleks Zinchenko were rested on Tuesday, however promising Joao Cancelo and Benjamin Mendy were. Only Zinchenko will be away on international duty after the Wolves game, giving Guardiola more time to work with them, but for now he is likely to stick with his established options.

Fernandinho should start alongside Nicolas Otamendi in defence, before he gets a much-needed rest next week.

Upfront, Raheem Sterling should return, with in form Riyad Mahrez getting the nod ahead of Bernardo Silva. Gabriel Jesus could earn his second consecutive start in the Premier League after Sergio Aguero started in the Champions League this week.

Predicted Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Fernandinho, Otamendi, Zinchenko; Rodri, Silva, Gundogan; Sterling, Mahrez, Jesus.
