Focused tall Lobb impresses Freo coach

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has lauded in-demand tall Rory Lobb for his ability to block out speculation over his AFL future in a strong run of form.

Lobb is contracted to the Dockers for 2023 but has been linked to the Western Bulldogs, who publicly confirmed their interest in the ruck-forward this week.

Talk of a move won't go away after former GWS player Lobb sought a trade back to the Giants at the end of last year.

Lobb, who was non-committal about his future in a recent television interview, kicked two goals from his 14 disposals in Fremantle's important 41-point win over St Kilda - 17.9 (111) to 10.10 (70) - on Saturday night.

Sporting a new bleached-blonde hairstyle, the 29-year-old also dragged down a game-high three contested marks.

The telling display came just six days after his match-winning five-goal haul against Port Adelaide.

"I've been really impressed with his efforts all year, and not just the footy season but the moment he walked back into the club at the end of last year," Longmuir said.

"He committed to his work, he committed over the pre-season to be really competitive and connected with his teammates and it's showing in his footy.

"You hear some of the outside stuff but from what I see of Rory he's connected with his teammates, he seems to be enjoying his footy and he seems to be really committed.

"That's all I can hope for as a coach."

Bulldogs head of football Chris Grant confirmed this week the club has reached out to Lobb's camp.

"All I know is that Lobby's a contracted player," Longmuir said.

"That's all I know, so that's where I'll leave it."

Fremantle's win over St Kilda gave them a 12-4 record, sitting behind top sides Geelong and Melbourne only on percentage.

The Dockers host Sydney at Optus Stadium in round 18, with key defender Alex Pearce likely to return.

Pearce was a late withdrawal against the Saints because of calf tightness.
