Focus on healthcare, not namaz room: BJP tells Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand

JAMSHEDPUR: Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Kunal Sarangi has alleged that the Hemant Soren-led government is trying to divert attention of the people from its failures and making every effort to keep its minority vote bank intact.

Sarangi on Sunday said in pandemic times when the mahagathbandhan government should focus on how to improve healthcare facilities here, it is setting up namaz rooms for the minority community. Hitting out at the state government’s lackadaisical attitude towards improving health care in Jharkhand, which has touched rock bottom since Soren and his team took up the mantels of the state, Sarangi pointed out that for two consecutive years, admission for fresh batch of MBBS students has been stopped in three medical colleges here.

He said the National Medical Commission has found that since medical colleges in Palamu, Hazaribag and Dumka do not fulfil the criteria laid down by the body, it did not allow admission of students in these institutions.

He said the need of the hour is more doctors, medical staff, more hospitals with state-of-art infrastructure and equipment to tackle Covid-19 in a better way. Instead, the government is more concerned to to keep its vote bank intact.

Sarangi on behalf of the students sought an apology from the CM and state health minister Banna Gupta for toying with their future.
