From Harry Potter to The Jetsons, flying cars have been featured in Hollywood blockbusters for years.
Now, the futuristic vehicles are becoming a reality, and one has even taken to the skies over Slovakia in a mind-blowing test flight.
The AirCar is a flying sports car that transforms from a road vehicle into an air vehicle in less than three minutes.
During the test flight, the flying car successfully took off from Piestany airport, reaching a height above ground level of 1,500 feet, before returning to the ground.
The two-seater flying car weighs just 1,100kg, and can carry an additional land of 200kg per flight.

It has an estimated range of 1,000km, and can reach impressive speeds of up to 200km/hour.
Dr Branko Sarh, senior technical fellow at Boeing, said: “The wing and tail deployment/retraction mechanism is very impressive, converting the automobile into an airplane.
“The cockpit providing space for the driver/pilot and a passenger is very roomy and nicely styled. The overall appearance of the flying car on road and in the air is superb.”

According to its designers, Klein Vision, the AirCar could be used for leisure purposes, or as a flying taxi in the near future.
Anton Zajac, Klein Vision’s co-founder, investor and pilot, said: “With AirCar you will arrive at your destination without the hassle of getting a ride to airport and passing through commercial security, you can drive your AirCar to the golf course, the office, the mall or your hotel and park it in a normal parking space.”
Unfortunately, it remains unclear how much the AirCar costs, or when it will be available.

However, Klein Vision claims that it already has a buyer.
Professor Stefan Klein, Klein Vision’s CTO and test pilot added: “Following the completion of all required flight tests in compliance with EASA regulations, we will deliver a model with a certified ADEPT, 300HP engine within the next six next months.
“The good news is, we already have a buyer.”
