Flying SPORTS CAR has detachable drone so you can fly away from traffic jams

There’s nothing more annoying than sitting in a traffic jam, watching the clock tick away.

But the days of getting stuck in traffic could be a thing of the past, thanks to a new flying sports car concept.

The concept, dubbed The Transvolution, was developed by designer Martin Rico for Imaginative, and details a sports car with a detachable passenger drone.

Imaginative said: “The Transvolution is a radical concept which combines both air and road travel allowing passengers to reach their city centre destinations much more quickly and efficiently.”

The vehicle is comprised of three layers. At the bottom is the base of an electric sports car, while a central cabin sits in the middle, where the driver and passengers sit.

Meanwhile, the top layer is a detachable wing equipped with electric engines.

Users could either choose to use the vehicle on the ground or in the skies, in which case the top two layers would detach from the base.

Imaginative explained: “The ‘drone wing’ could detach itself easily from the cabin and fly to the nearest charging station using its eVTOL capacity.

“The car’s lower base would be similar to an electric sports car designed for road use.

“The autonomous base of the Transvolution would be engineered to capture the cabin and lock it in place.”

This unique set-up would mean that while the cabin would be the property of the owner, the wings and base could be rented, based on which configuration you want.

Sadly, the Transvolution is still a concept, and it remains unclear when, or even if, it will become a reality.

However, that’s not to say that flying cars aren’t in the works.

Several firms, including Boeing, Uber and Lilium are working on the technology, indicating we may not be far off a Jetsons-style future!
