Travis Konecny, the Flyers' speedy rookie, will miss four to six weeks with a lower-body injury, general manager Ron Hextall said Tuesday.
The feisty winger was smacked into the boards during the second period of the Flyers' 2-0 loss to St. Louis on Monday night. He was favoring his left shoulder and reportedly also suffered a sprained left ankle and left knee.
CSNPhilly said he was in a walking boot Monday night.
Konecny, 19, had been a healthy scratch the previous two games. For the season, he has seven goals, 22 points, and a minus-4 rating in 51 games. Among NHL rookies, he is 10th in the league with 15 assists.
With Konecny sidelined, Matt Read figures to return to the lineup Thursday against the visiting New York Islanders.
The Flyers have been shut out the last two games, both at home; they have never suffered three straight shutouts in their history.
Based on Hextall's estimate, the earliest Konecny will return is March 7 in Buffalo. If so, he would miss 10 games.
Two of the Flyers' top winger options to be recalled from the Phantoms, Taylor Leier and Colin McDonald, are injured. Left winger Greg Carey, who leads Lehigh Valley with 22 goals, is among the possibilities.
Scott Laughton and Jordan Weal have been playing mostly at center for the Phantoms.
