Holidaygoers with severe nut allergies on board with Flybe will be put at ease this summer after a new ban on nut products.
The European airline confirmed that as of Monday July 1, it has decided to err on the side of caution and will no longer carry peanuts or nut-based products.
The new ban applies to its own operated flights in a move to further improve passenger experience for severe allergy sufferers.
Nut allergies are the most common type of severe food allergy, and one in 200 adults in the UK are victim to the allergy.
Roy Kinnear, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: "Passenger safety is our number one priority...that is why we take the issue of nut allergies extremely seriously and, as an additional measure to those already being taken, have now removed all peanuts and nut-based products from our on board Café Flybe menu."

However despite preventative measures, Mr Kinnear stressed that "no public environment can ever be guaranteed to be one hundred per cent ‘nut-free’."
They advise that any passenger with a food-related allergy of any type to always check product labels and packaging for specific ingredient information.
Easyjet banned nuts and nut products in April this year.
