Passengers in Edinburgh have been left stranded after Flybe went into administration in the early hours of this morning.
Over 30 Flybe flights were set to depart from Edinburgh Airport today but have since been cancelled.
The UK’s largest rail operator, FirstGroup has now stepped in and are offering free tickets to all Flybe customers who had flights booked with the airline today.
As well as Transpenine Express, customers will also be able to travel for free on Avanti West Coast, Great Western Railway, South Western Railway, and Hull Trains.
First Rail Managing Director Steve Montgomery said “Our rail services connect people and communities up and down the country and as a gesture of goodwill we want to ensure that anyone who was due to travel on Flybe’s grounded flights today can still complete their journey.”
How to claim the offer?
Customers affected by cancelled Flybe flights will need to provide valid proof of a booking, such as their boarding pass.
The offer is also open to Flybe employees, who can show staff ID to qualify for free rail travel.
Edinburgh Airport announced on social media that all Flybe flights "will not be operating" and advised customers "do not come to the airport".
