A Wishaw resident has expressed their disgust at fly tipping in two areas of the town.
Rubbish was found in both Gowkthrapple and Morningside, and was described by one anonymous resident as the worst they have seen.
Fences, household waste and furniture have all been dumped at the side of the roads leaving an eyesore to residents and passers by.
Rubbish behind Bluebell Wynd in Gowkthrapple has piled up recently, endangering wildlife as well as locals.
A local. who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “The litter is harmful to local birds and Wildlife and an already stretched Council have cut back on their litter picking teams and due to cutbacks have no revenue to tackle it.
“The people in these houses that back onto the woods have cars and the recycling depot is just around the corner, so there is no need to treat their environment like this.”
The same local also found rubbish in Morningside, just behind where the old Law Hospital used to be.
This was left at the side of the road, next to an old container.
“The council imposing the £30 uplift charges has also made the fly tipping worse.
“A combination of the charge as well as lockdown has meant fly tipping has gotten a lot worse.
“People are fed up and disgusted by this. it is becoming dangerous.”
A council spokesperson said: “Rubbish and litter is not only an eyesore, but can also lead to public health issues as it attracts vermin. Fly tipping is a criminal activity and our officers can issue a Fixed Penalty Notice of £200 to those responsible.
“The public can help by reporting incidents of fly tipping, with details of individuals and vehicles involved, to the council on 01698 403110.”
