Fly-tippers block off Tranent walking route with massive pile of old tyres

A fly-tipping incident where a massive pile of old tyres were dumped on a pathway has blocked off a walking route in East Lothian.

Dozens of tyres were seen on the path at Brickworks Road to the north of Tranent at the weekened.

Locals are furious at the illegal dumping, which has taken place in the area previously.

Stewart D'Arcy shared a photo of the pile on Facebook. He told Edinburgh Live it has been the worst fly-tipping incident on Brickworks Road so far.

One person responded saying: "That's absolutely disgusting whoever dumped these had to travel to do it so why not take them to the dump!!! This makes my blood boil spoiling the area for everyone."

Another said: "Disgraceful lazy gits took the road to dump them there why not just have took them to the dump."

Someone else commented: "Sadly this road quite often gets dumped on. There is a sofa there early on this year. Has to be someone with local knowledge who is doing this.

"I really do hope they can trace the person that did this it’s thoughtless and totally selfish."

East Lothian Council  have been contacted for comment.
