Fly-tippers block off homes in East Lothian with giant pile of rubbish

Fly-tippers blocked off several homes in East Lothian after dumping a massive pile of rubbish on an access road.

The country road off Fishergate Road near Port Seton was used as an illegal dumping ground on Wednesday night.

It meant people who live in a small community of cottages were unable to get access.

Furious locals say it could have been disastrous if the emergency services had needed access.

Steven Findlay posted in a local Facebook group saying: "Wee country road along to cottages at top of field - road blocked due to some scumbags tipping. Will be reported."

One person commented saying: "That's us blocked in. Just hope we don't have a fire as no way the fire brigade is getting to us."

In Tranent, a local walking route has been plagued by fly-tippers. In December they blocked off the route with a giant pile of tyres.
