Travel time between the Hunter and Port Macquarie is set to shrink after Fly Pelican announced on Friday the launch of a weekly service to the Mid North Coast town from February 4.
The airline will make the journey on Thursdays with fares starting at $85, one way. The announcement comes on the back of Fly Pelican's launch of a tri-weekly service to the Sunshine Coast earlier this month.
Newcastle Airport CEO Dr Peter Cock said the continued support of the region was behind the recent addition of several new services.
"What we've seen over the last 12 months is strong, ongoing demand for air travel to and from our catchment which has consistently been higher than the rest of the nation," he said.
Fly Pelican CEO Marty Hawley said the continued expansion of his airline's network was a direct result of the ongoing vote of confidence from the region.
"Despite all the hurdles that the pandemic has thrown up, we've continually found strong demand for inexpensive, convenient travel from our region," he said.
