FLY Open Air reveal plans for 'socially distant' rave if coronavirus restrictions are still in place

FLY Open Air festival have released plans today of what their next event might look like if coronavirus restrictions are still in place.

One of Edinburgh's most popular events, the techno festival usually sees huge crowds head to Hopetoun House or Princes Street Gardens to dance the night away.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, organisers have had to cancel both the May and September festivals they had planned for 2020.

Two FLY festivals abroad have also been organised for next year, one in Amsterdam and the other in Ibiza.

Currently, FLY have stated they hope to run their May 2021 event as normal, but have now released a 'Plan-B' to ensure it could still go ahead.

In a post on social media today, they released a mock up image of the potential event, with socially distanced pods to allow groups to enjoy the music in a safe way.

Each pod would be able to contain whatever the household or person limit is at the time, with West Lothian Council and Police Scotland approving the plans.

As the festival is an outdoor event, music will still be allowed to play, with a list of headliners already confirmed for the big day.

Speaking about their 'PLAN-B', FLY stated:

"Open Air events however can have music playing so let’s get back to the dance floor.

"Let’s all do our best to stick to the rules this winter but if COVID-19 try’s to block us we can still dance in a safe, secure and socially distanced manner here and surely this is better than nothing at all."

All tickets for the event have also been given a 'Ticket Promise', meaning that party goers are guaranteed a refund or rescheduled date if the day cannot go ahead.
