Floyd Mayweather wins big on Conor McGregor's defeat to Dustin Poirier

Floyd Mayweather was celebrating after making $35,000 on Conor McGregor's loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

'Money', who defeated the Dubliner in a 2017 boxing bout, placed a $50,000 bet at a Las Vegas casino on Poirier winning the trilogy fight.

Celebrating the win, he posted on Instagram: "@dustinpoirier , thanks for getting me paid!"

McGregor sustained a serious leg injury as he lost to his lightweight rival via doctor’s stoppage in round one.

The Notorious started aggressively by targeting Poirier with leg kicks, but the American quickly capitalised after seeming to hear McGregor’s leg crack during one exchange.

Poirier took his opponent to the ground, where he dominated before the fighters returned to their feet.

Both swung and missed and McGregor stepped back before his leg collapsed beneath him, sparking speculation he may have suffered a bone fracture.

McGregor somehow survived until the end of the round when the bout was stopped.

It was a dramatic conclusion to the bout which followed their January rematch, with Poirier calling his opponent a “dirtbag” after the fight.

Meanwhile, McGregor continued to verbally abuse Poirier, telling Joe Rogan: "I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding leg off him, usual s**** he dived to close the distance.

"This is not over! If I have to take this outside with him it's on outside I don't give a b*******.

"There was no check [on a leg kick], there was not one of them I checked."

McGregor reiterated his claim that Poirier's wife Jolie 'slid in his DMs', adding: "Your wife is in my DMs, hey baby, hit me back up I'll chat to you later on, I'll be at the after party; The Wynn night club baby."
