Floyd Mayweather vs Deji IN DOUBT as bitter row erupts hours before fight

Floyd Mayweather's exhibition bout with YouTube star Deji is in jeopardy due to an issue between the two sides with regards to gloves and round length.

It appeared to be agreed that they would wear 14oz gloves for the bout, and that it would take place over eight rounds of two minutes. But Mirror Fighting sources have indicated that the Mayweather side are keen to have the bout take place with 10oz gloves, while there is also a disagreement over whether the rounds are two or three minutes.

Reportedly Deji has arrived at the Coca-Cola Arena without a pair of 10oz gloves, having previously been lead to believe that an agreement had been reached over the size during the week. But Mayweather's team would rather he fought in the smaller gloves despite the bout being just an exhibition.

The issue around the gloves had been lingering throughout fight week, but there appears to be further issues with the contract situation causing confusion on both ends. If the fight were to be cancelled, it would be the third to be pulled from today's event on fight day.

Tommy Fury's bout with Paul Bamba was cancelled at the eleventh hour when the Brit missed weight, although he is staying on the card against Rolly Lambert in a hastily-arranged exhibition. The Cameroonian fighter is 15-1-1 and holds a number of Asian belts, and will prove likely a tougher test than the untested 5-2 Bamba.

And Harley Benn was also pulled from the card at short notice when his bout with Faizan Anwar was called off due to an issue on Anwar's end. The Brit was paid in full for the fight having made weight, and has been guaranteed another fight on a future Global Titans event in the Middle East.

Several undercard fights have gone ahead but Jack Fincham's clash with Anthony Taylor was changed to an exhibition bout after Fincham weighed in seven pounds overweight. In the event, it was Taylor who would have won the bout had it gone to the scorecards after dominating over four rounds.
