Floyd Mayweather provides update on Manny Pacquiao rematch

Rumours of a rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao have been doing the rounds recently.

Pacquiao is looking for his next fight and a poll regarding his next opponent on his Twitter account saw Mayweather emerge as the clear favourite.

Supporters are keen to see the two iconic figures in the ring once again despite their much-hyped but somewhat underwhelming first fight back in May 2015.

The pair are understood to have held talks regarding a rematch that would bring the unbeaten Mayweather out of retirement.

They recently met in the Philippines - but Mayweather has insisted the rumours of second showdown have no legs.

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao confirmed - but there's a twist

“Rumors, rumors, Rumors,” the former five-weight world champion said. “Mayweather vs Pacquiao part two is not true.

“If you didn’t hear it on FightHype first, then it’s not true.”

It now looks like Pacquiao is set to fight Keith Thurman later this year.

The two Al Haymon fighters are looking at a bout on either July 13 or July 20, with the date fitting around Pacquiao's political commitments to the Filipino senate.

According to FOX Sports correspondent Mike Coppinger , a deal is expected to be completed for a pay-per-view welterweight showdown.

40-year-old Pacquiao beat Adrien Broner in January, a week before Thurman defeated Josesito Lopez on his return from a two-year lay-off.
