Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jnr posted videos of himself on Instagram counting his cash and shadow boxing on the helipad of the Peninsula hotel after making a quick trip to discuss a potential mega-money exhibition in Hong Kong.
The unbeaten American boxer on Friday held preliminary talks with local promoters DEF Promotions, to discuss showcasing his legendary skills in the city – but made sure to grab some leisure time too.
Mayweather is looking to promote his TMT [The Money Team] brand in Asia, having also travelled to Tokyo this week to discuss the possibility of more exhibition fights in Japan.
The 42-year-old has visited Hong Kong several times and usually stays at the Peninsula in Tsim Sha Tsui, occupying the presidential suite that provides a breathtaking view of Hong Kong’s skyline. The Peninsula told the Post that the suite costs HK$168,000 (US$21,600) a night.
That beautiful view was on full display in one video posted to Mayweather’s 22.7 million Instagram followers.
The welterweight great was seen wearing his ubiquitous TMT cap and counting a wad of HK$1,000 notes standing on the edge of the 5-star hotel’s helipad.
In another video, he shadowboxes on the helipad and a third video shows him relaxing in his suite, listening to music as the camera zooms in on his expensive watch.
He also posted a picture of himself with Amy Zhou Qunfei, the founder of major touch screen maker Lens Technology.
Zhou is one of the world’s richest self-made women with a reported net worth of nearly US$10 billion in 2018, after the public listing of her company on the Shenzhen ChiNext market in March 2015.

“Billion dollar business Amy Zhou,” read Mayweather’s caption on the photo.
Mayweather’s own earnings have certainly taken a dip, which is perhaps why he is seeking a lucrative fight in Hong Kong.
Forbes revealed that the boxer has dropped out of sight in the moneymaking stakes and has been overshadowed by football stars such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The boxer, who claims he is retired after compiling a perfect 50-0 record with 27 KOs, failed to make the “Forbes Hot 100 Money List” for the second successive year.
Mayweather, who was ranked number one for many years, has fought just twice since 2017.
But he still earned US$9 million for a New Year’s Eve exhibition clash against Japanese kick-boxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo, which the American easily won after just 136 seconds in a first-round TKO.
At least Mayweather got to go and check out the famous Big Buddha again, having also visited the monument last year on a quick trip to Hong Kong.
The famous tourism spot, also known as Tian Tan Buddha, is located at Ngong Ping on Lantau Island.
