Floyd Mayweather 'carried' Conor McGregor and planned tenth round win, says Adrien Broner

Adrien Broner claims Floyd Mayweather 'carried' Conor McGregor in their 2017 boxing bout and says the American had planned to win the fight in the tenth round.

The Notorious lasted a lot longer than many anticipated against Mayweather, but Broner claims it was all part of Money's plan.

Mayweather's former protege and friend told VladTV: "He carried him to the tenth round, stopped him, like he told me he was going to do.

Mayweather took his professional record to 50-0 with the win over McGregor, who has been linked to returning to the boxing ring to face Manny Pacquiao.

McGregor teased a return to fighting earlier this week when replying to a tweet about the Diaz brothers, in which he said: "Line them up".

With his 2016 fights against Nate among the UFC's top pay-per-views in the promotion's history, it's likely that the blockbuster returns could shatter records once again.

And with McGregor explaining that his reasoning for retirement was a lack of exciting fight opportunities, perhaps this could draw him out.

In fact, McGregor is priced at just 4/1 to take on the Stockton fighter as Diaz targets a January 2021 return after five years away from the cage.

"MMA fighters, they don't fight 12 rounds, they fight three-five rounds. They don't fight 12 rounds."
