Flowers left for 'legend' Callum at scene of bike crash

Touching tributes have been pain to a 24-year-old man who died in a bike crash.

He was taken to Halton Hospital where paramedic crews including land and air ambulance attended but he died a short time after.

Police also attended the hospital.

Numerous members of the public have already expressed their thoughts for the bereaved family and now further tributes have been laid at the scene of the crash in Runcorn in memory of "legend" Callum.

A number of flower bouquets line the area, with one floral tribute reading "Love you Dingy" in reference to a nickname.

Another said: "Ride high brother, Flea xxx."

One reads: "Legend of a kid, will be missed. Love you lil bro."

And another said: "RIP Callum mate."

Numerous members of the public have previously expressed their thoughts for the bereaved family.

In the comments section of the ECHO website, one poster previously said: “Fly high dingy bro too good for this world lad.”

Another said Callum’s extended family were in “total shock and devastation that this has happened”, writing: “He was a kid who loved life and his family can’t begin to think how his mum, dad and wider family are feeling right now.”

One wellwisher wrote: “So sad another biker taken too soon Rest in Peace.”

While another wrote: “He was a lovely lad and we all are going to miss him,” before adding: “Sleep tight mate devastated.”

Several police vehicles including a marine unit visited the scene of the crash at Wigg Island Nature Reserve.

They were located on an access road running between the main entrance and the foot of the Mersey Gateway bridge.

A section of undergrowth between the road and the Manchester Ship Canal was taped off behind a cordon.

Callum, from Runcorn, was initially named locally and Cheshire police have since confirmed his identity.

Cheshire Police has appealed for information over the crash and urged members of the public to call 101, quoting IML 1054649.

The constabulary confirmed the crash was close to where the Mersey Gateway bridge passes overhead.

A force spokeswoman said: “At 7pm on Thursday, August 5, police received a report that a man had been brought to Halton General Hospital, on Hospital Way in Runcorn, with serious injuries and sadly died.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances however at this stage officers believe he had been in a collision a short time earlier.
