Flowers for Wishaw woman in recognition of always putting her family first

A very special mum who “always puts her family first” has received recognition from her devoted daughter.

Ann Waugh, 86, was nominated by her loving daughter, Lorna Bryce, for our Say It With Flowers award.

Ann, who now lives in Gowkthrapple, was a former pupil of Wishaw High School.

After leaving school she worked on the Watsonmids Farm in Newmains for a number of years, alongside her late husband John, before he sadly passed away over 28 years ago.

Throughout her life the hard-working mum-of-three has been devoted to caring for and raising her two sons, Matthew and Andrew, and daughter, Lorna.

And even after her retirement Ann continued to be active and remained fit and healthy until her recent ill health.

But despite having suffered a stroke over 10 years ago which has affected her mobility, the selfless grandmother is always there for her family and loves spending time with her four grandchildren, Annabell, Iain, Heather, and Sam.

Lorna told the Wishaw Press: “Mum is just lovely.

“She is so caring and always puts her family first.

“She loves her grandchildren to bits and has looked after them all.

“She is a great babysitter.”

And when Lorna contacted us recently regarding Ann’s nomination, we were delighted to help out, providing these flowers courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.

Lorna said: “I’m sure mum will really appreciate these flowers.

“She always remains cheerful, despite being stuck in the house after she had a stroke over 10 years ago.

“It has affected her mobility and she is not able to get out much now.

“I thought I would just cheer her up and it would be a nice wee surprise for her.”
