Over a dozen species of rare roses were in full bloom to mark the 71st anniversary of Central Department Store during its annual flower festival.

Last Thursday, Bangkok deputy governor Thaweesak Lertprapan presided over the opening of the "Central Anniversary 2018" event themed "The World Of Floral Wonders", featuring a show starring Urassaya Sperbund as the Floral Princess and Naphat Siangsomboon as Prince Charming.

Highlights at Central Chidlom included a 7m-tall gazebo centred in the store, while each floor took on a different theme, from the first floor's rose garden to the top floor's flower-inspired cuisine at FoodLoft.

A field of 1,000 Cordia-shaped windmills fronted Central Embassy, whose other floral attractions included a floral dome, falling vine and Fruit Tree by Korean artist and designer Choi Jeong Hwa.
